Start 2021 with a fresh new outlook on your Financial Life.

Unfortunately for some Covid 19 has changed the way we live & look at our lives.

It has impacted the way we do business, communicate with people and perhaps impacted our cash-flow.
The good news is, all things in life change, it is inevitable whether we like it or not. Also, we have the ability to make choices. So, from my perspective we are never truly stuck, even though it may feel that way. Think about how many times you have had to adjust and course correct in your life. Your views, values and interest can change at a drop of a hat. So can that of your clients.

Now is a perfect time to reflect, look back and note the lessons and celebrate your successes in 2020. You can also decide to let go of what doesn’t bring you joy and really dial into what does. Your choice.

One of the many lessons I’ve learned this year is that life can be threatened at a moments notice such as experiencing my husband’s heart attack this summer, boy was that a surprise.

It taught me that no matter what happens you can manage and handle any situation as we are resilient. It also taught me that you must not take advantage of the house you reside in. Managing stress, nourishment of mind, body and soul should be first priority. I am also was so very grateful I made sure he had Critical Illness insurance which paid out and made our financial lives comfortable while he was recovering.

Now it is your turn. Below I have 5 steps plus a bonus step, you can follow to look at your personal life and business life. You can also access the mini course I have which takes you deeper into the process as my gift to you.

Sign up at Revive My Financial Plan where you will be guided each step of the way. Looking after what matters most to you and your financial life is a form of self care in my books.

Working with an accredited Financial Planner and Coach can be very helpful in assisting you move the needle towards achieving your biggest goals and creating a joy filled successful life that you can enjoy with vitality and health.

Check out the steps below. Have a very Merry Christmas and I wish you much Love, Joy and Success in 2021.

  1. Review your Life Plan and tweak or adjust your GOALS. What do you want? You may find it easier to answer what you don’t want however I highly recommend you get very clear on what you do want in life, love and business. Write it down, be very descriptive incorporating all your senses as if it has already happened. Focus on what you want and review your written statement daily. Finish this statement..... It is January 1st 2022 and as I look back on 2021 I am celebrating .................................................More available on my course.
  2. Be familiar with where you are spending your money.  Can you reduce or pause some expenses.Take some time to review your expenses, both personal and business. What is going out the door that is not longer necessary. Ask yourself is paying that expense allowing you to grow your income and revenue or can you do something else with that cash that will. In most cases you are paying a monthly subscription that you are under utilizing or not using. So either cancel or start using it to improve your life and business in some way. Worksheet available in my course.
  3. Calculate Your after expense income.  Income - Expenses = Cash that can be used to....? see 4 & 5 for ideas. What is your net income and revenue? Is it positive or negative? Has it improved quarter to quarter or year over year. Money has a way of finding something to do if you don’t keep an eye on it. It likes to be in motion. When you learn to manage your money it no longer manages you. Number 2 and 3 are great exercises that will show you your patterns and behaviours around money.
  4. Create a Melt Away your Debt Plan.  No one likes debt, if you don’t have any congratulations. If you do, make sure the interest rate is as low as possible and if you have increased your cashflow by reducing expenses then perhaps you can afford to increase your payment to pay that debt down faster. If you feel any guilt around this area of your finances I suggest taking action and celebrating each payment. Be grateful it was available to you when you needed it and look at it from a different perspective. For example - it could be looked at as an investment in your personal development or an investment in setting up and growing your business. I have a full webinar available that reviews debt and the strategies you can use to get out of debt.
  5. Start saving for your longer term goals - &/or a 3/6 month emergency account. If you have no debt are you saving? If Covid has taught us anything having an emergency fund is so important. I make sure all my clients have money set aside for emergencies. You also have to look at your longer term income needs, you know that day you want to retire and relax. Is your money invested properly and working hard growing for your future needs. It is also important to review your Estate Plan and your Protection Plan. Do you have the right type of insurance? If you need help in this area I have some experience 3 decades of experience actually. Happy to assist.

Bonus - Review/Adjust your plan Quarterly and Celebrate your Accomplishments. Once this is all done, I recommend you review your plan at quarterly, I contact my clients 4 times per year. Life happens and it can very well change your plan. Be flexible and open. Enjoy life at each moment (mindfulness) and CELEBRATE your accomplishments fully before moving on to the next task or project.

Remember - Be Prepared, have a Plan and Focus on what you want to achieve rather than focusing on the negative & flying by the seat of your pants.

How to super charge your goals in 2020

1/10/2020

Picture
It's that time of year again when employers, employees and entrepreneurs are setting goals for 2020. Business goals, Career goals, financial goals, health goals, fitness goals, relationship goals and the list goes on.

Many have to achieve goals that they have not set, but have been set for them, especially if you are an employee. The key to achieving goals that you do not set for yourself, is to align yourself with the goal in a way that compels you to enjoy the process of achieving those said goals. Ask yourself “How will achieving these goals add value to my life?” Find a way to make them your own.
Picture
Spending time goal planning is a very important process in order to be successful in business and in life. If you do not give yourself, consciously and unconsciously very simple and specific instructions to follow how will you ever arrive at your set destination. How do you know what to focus on? A ship does not set sail without knowing exactly where it needs to arrive and yes course corrections along the way are required. We operate the same way. The logical mind makes the goal and the unconscious mind is the goal getter.

How Do You Super Charge Your Goals?

In my Super Charge your Goals Kit I instruct you to create a Vision, a multidimensional picture of your Vision already complete. Using all your senses, see yourself celebrating the accomplishment.

Ask yourself “What is the last thing that has to happen in order for me to know this goal is successfully achieved?” Then picture that thing.

For example my big Vision and Goal is to own a Retreat Center - I see myself having accomplished this when I see myself with my husband receiving the key from the Realtor and putting the key in the lock, turning it and walking through the open door. I see who is with me, I see exactly what the area looks like, how it sounds, the smells and most importantly how I feel in my body.

It is important to know how you want to feel while on the journey but also when you are celebrating the accomplishment. It is also so very important to celebrate no matter how small at each step of the way. This will keep you motivated to stick with it when the tasks get tedious or scary. Look forward, and celebrate how far you have come vs feeling overwhelmed by how much you have yet to do.

I invite you to complete this sentence using positive forward looking language.

“It is January 1st 2021, and I am feeling ______________ and celebrating _________________. In the year 2020 I have accomplished and achieved _____________________________. Write a sensory description of your journey in 2020 as if it has already happen. Read it daily, embody the feelings as well.

If you would like a copy of my Super Charge Your Goals for 2020 which included how to set goals the NLP S.M.A.R.T method along with several recorded guided visualizations and self hypnosis you can sign up here - https://moneymagiccoach.kartra.com/page/Goals

Now lets talk a little bit about what Blocks Successful Goal Achievement.

What gets in the way of goal setting and achievement is old programming, memories of goals set and failed in the past. Negative Self Talk, Limiting Beliefs, Doubts and Emotions are the villains when it comes to Successful Goal Achievement.

Think about it? Was there ever a time in your past where you set a goal, had a vision and dream, where you were 120% invested, whole heartedly, emotionally and financially and then BOOM! It all came crashing down around your ears.

If yes, how did it feel?

Does it still make you cringe and feel angry? What about the self talk and recriminations? We are hardest on ourselves. Or perhaps, it was an outside force, or a person who let you down. It is all the same, you are now living with Goal Trauma. Goal Trauma is a goal failed for one reason or another that still causes stress and emotion in the body. Anger, regret, guilt to name a few.

Goal Trauma gets in the way of really investing yourself in the process of setting intentions and goals for yourself. In a way it is really not your fault. Why? Well, in order to not experience those negative emotions a person will do almost anything to avoid feeling them and if setting goals brings back old memories and it doesn't feel good then we resist and avoid or set the bar so low that we really never reach our true potential because we learn to play it safe rather than take on risk of failure.

The Leap to Overcoming Goal Trauma

Picture
If the bridge between your goals and accomplishment is littered with old negative memories of past failures and mistakes, achieving those goals will become dull, boring and difficult. I don’t want that for you!

The key to releasing those Goal Success Blocks is to

  1. Review Past Events
  2. Create an Awareness of your thoughts, feelings and beliefs
  3. Forgive those and yourself for the errors, failures and misguidance, you were only doing the best you knew how at the time.
  4. Question the validity of those beliefs. The behaviour does not make the person. What I mean by that is that if you did something wrong or unknowingly sabotaged yourself and you now believe you are a failure or a bad_______________ fill in the blank the action of doing that thing does not make you a failure or a bad person. The behaviour may have not been great, the decision may not have been good but it was only an action, a behaviour and the behaviour does not define you. So start to wiggle that weed aka belief out of the garden of your success, pluck it out and ask “What did I learn? What was the Lesson” take that lesson and file it away so you do not repeat the behaviour.

The good news is that Goal Trauma once recognized can be removed through awareness and healing. The processes I us with my clients to get them unstuck are, EFT emotional freedom technique and Time Line Therapy®. Quick, easy and simple.

Download the Super Charge your 2020 Goal Kit and join the private Facebook Group for accountability or book a call with me. Allow yourself to Dream and create a Vision so bright that you can’t but help be successful in 2020.

Cheers to your Success in 2020.

Embrace Laziness to save money this summer.

Embrace Laziness This Summer and Save Money!

Did you know that most people start the year with good intentions, they set a budget and follow it..... until the weather warms up and Summer arrives.

Picture

Then the budget gets forgotten as spending increases not only during the summer months but lasts until the end of the year and the cycle starts all over again.

The reason I am writing about this is twofold.

  1. We are a society and culture always on the go, never taking down time during the day and even our vacations are non-stop activities. Go Go Go!
  2. Breaking your Summer Spending Plan can create relationship friction and impact your long-term goals.

Let’s talk about Breaking the Busy Habit.

“Busy is a sign of success.” Many people wear it like a badge of honour. I played that game myself until I hit the wall and it came crashing down on me.

NOT, taking vacation, down time, coffee breaks etc where we disconnect and that means, no phones, no internet, no tv just taking some time to sit back and be lazy is detrimental to your health. Stress, burnout and depression are the norm these days because we have literally retrained our brain and body with the belief that sitting doing nothing, gazing out the window is considered bad, lazy, and not a good use of our time. Feelings of fear of missing out or guilt around chores/work not getting done creep into our conscious thoughts when we become idle. No one likes to feel like that therefore we get back up and start working or joining in on all the activities that keep us busy busy busy, exhausted and stressed.

The one thing you cannot buy is TIME. You get to control how your time is invested. What matters most to you? We all have the same 24 hours per day.

Check out this quick video where Warren Buffet teaches Bill Gates the lesson of controlling time.

So how do we break the cycle when our plates are so darn full?

I think that the benefits of taking lazy and idle time during the day and on vacation are much greater than you can imagine.

  • Increased feeling of emotional wellbeing.
  • Better sleep.
  • Healthier body and mind.
  • Your creativity will increase.
  • You will be more productive. (Counter intuitive I know but true)
  • Better at problem solving.

First thing to acknowledge is taking downtime is a practice. It an adjustment to get used to, because our brains have literally been re-wired to accommodate our busy hectic schedules. We have been trained to operate 24 hours a day never taking time to rest and slow down. God forbid we get caught being lazy or daydreaming. Therefore, you may experience some push back to the exercises I suggest. Be gentle with yourself as you practice being idle or bored.

I have a CRAP sheet I give to my clients who have a hard time letting go of the day or are being interrupted by critical self-talk during the day. I ask them to write all their thinking crap onto the sheet of paper parking it for later use. Not that they ever go back to it because who wants to fill their mind with useless self-talk. If you would like a copy of my CRAP sheet send me an email and I will send it out to you.       mailto:barb@barbwallick.com?subject=Send me the CRAP Sheet

Tips for slowing down, being idle and practicing boredom.

  1. Take one-minute day dream breaks during the day. Set your phone to ding several times a day to remind you to take several deep breaths and dream.
  2. Find a nice piece of grass lay down and stare at the clouds/sky passing by.
  3. Go for a walk without your phone and consciously notice the sounds, smells and sights around you.
  4. Meditate - ignore your thoughts they won’t go away just put them in a bubble and let them float away.
  5. Create a place in your home with a comfy chair to sit in. Yes, just sit idly.
  6. Embrace doing nothing and don’t be afraid to let people know if they ask what you are doing. “I am doing nothing”
  7. Take your coffee and lunch breaks get out of the office without your phone even for 10 minutes.
  8. Host boredom parties with your friends - device free of course.

I am sure you can take it from here. Remember those long hot steamy summer days are for retraining your brain to be idle.

I get my best ideas when I am doing nothing or playing at something that I enjoy and don’t have to think about.

Summer Spending

Picture
Spending more during the warmer summer months can really mess with your long-term financial plan and create tension in your relationship. By practicing the above-mentioned idleness exercises you will be less inclined to schedule activities that cost money. Seems simple and it is. Here are some other ideas to keep you within your spending plan. I was going to say budget but I really dislike that word.

Why do we start spending more in the warmer summer months?

Well, it’s warmer and since we have been mostly stuck indoors during the colder winter months our impulse is to go out have fun with friends and family. We also tend to plan the big family vacation as well as have pressure to keep our kids out of our hair during school breaks, not to mention daycare and summer camps.

I remember how hard it was to keep my daughter entertained and looked after while I worked. The cost of summer care if I could find it, and summer camps added up. During my summer vacation we would put our little pool up, invite friends over to swim and there were many days of little girls camping out overnight. We love to entertain and made it our mission to be a destination house with the BBQ on and the fire pit bringing welcoming neighbours and friends. We still do actually.

Another reason money can be spent Willy Nilly during the summer is quite often we want to make up for time not spent with our children. Perhaps, work has been long and hard and your summer vacation is a way to really spoil your family and spending extravagantly makes your feel happy. It fills a void and it’s a way of making up for time not spend together. Cultivating quality time together creating experiences go much further in our memory banks than buying material items that go by the wayside very quickly. I suggest creating experiences and cultivating quality time together fully present and in the moment.

One of my favourite summer memories was during a summer BBQ. The adults were having a great time when my daughter decided she wanted to paint her Dad’s eyebrows pink. It took a little persuading but before you know, it together with her friends, we pulled out all the old Halloween wigs and had placed them on each of the fathers then painted their eyebrows and beards pink and blue. I never laughed so much and we will always remember that night fondly. There may have been a cold drink involved as well.

Tips to keep Summer Spending in line.

  1. Schedule time with your spouse/family and plan your summer fun.
  2. Create a spending plan and make a game of staying within it.
  3. Open an account and save each month towards summer fun
  4. Research and find local free activities to do.
  5. Practice idleness - picnics in the park - frisbee - beach days.
  6. Make a game of teaching your kids to be idle.
  7. Enrol your friends in your new idleness methodology.
  8. Create fun summer themed parties with everyone pitching in.

In summary, learning and retraining your brain to rest on idle will actually increase your creativity and productivity this summer. It will also be a great way to stay within your summer spending plan keeping in alignment with your long-term financial plan. Emotional Spending is like emotional eating. It is never the spending or eating that is the problem. It is the reason why you are spending. Which is most often a feeling that you are attempting to experience like joy and happiness, which is covering up perhaps loneliness, sadness and guilt.

Remember to appreciate what you have in your life each day, your children, spouse and friends. Spend quality time verses spending to ease the guilt of overworking. Practice down time without your devices. Start daydreaming again your brain will learn to open up to it, slowing down the critical I have to keep busy, so much to do self-talk. Life is to be enjoyed on the journey it is not a race to be more and have more or a race to the finish line. Create memories that last a lifetime.

Celebration time!

12/11/2018

Yes, celebrating is not bragging, it’s so much more…
As we end 2018 I encourage you to reflect back on the year. Review your journals, your calendar and look for your accomplishments, the highlights of your year.

It is our human conditioning, what we believe to be true based on old outdated programming that often stops us from really joyously celebrating who we are, what we’ve accomplished and how we have served others.

Without the memory of Celebrating there would be no Celebration!
Read it again.

Without the memory of Celebrating there would be no Celebration.....

Picture
Picture
How did you celebrate growing up? Did you celebrate? Was it fun.... exciting.... did you look forward to celebrations? Or were they stressful filled with confusion.... drama...

The impact of what happened in the past shows up in the present.

Most likely, you might believe that it is unacceptable to brag, boast and show off. I agree, no one likes to listen to someone who is all about themselves, however, celebrating yourself, your accomplishments from a place of service to others is different. Hiding your amazing light so that you are the best kept secret around is not in the service of others. Your community needs to know you, the Leader that you are. You have a responsibility to show them that it is ok to be powerful, smart and successful.

So, why is it so hard to celebrate, self promote and step centre stage of our own life with the spot light shining down on you for all to see? I imagine even reading this might trigger uncomfortable feelings and emotions for some.

Margaret M Lynch writes in her book “Tapping Into Wealth - How Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) can help you clear the path to making more money” that we often take a Vow of Invisibility.

Vow of Invisibility!

Wow, think about it…..

Do you like it and feel comfortable talking about yourself, or when someone acknowledges you? I know many people who would just brush it off and down play their accomplishments. Feeling embarrassed or shameful at being the centre of attention.

Why do we take this vow?

As I mentioned above, our memories that are stored in our unconscious mind act as a guide post. Therefore, if your reference center is of memories where you were made to feel uncomfortable, less than and dismissed when you joyously shared your accomplishments you will feel resistance and not document them through celebration. Perhaps being invisible was the way for you to be safe, out of the way of harm. That might have been true for you then, I challenge you to ask yourself “Is it true today?” Most likely not.

My wish and request is that you start filling up your  Celebration Bank, make new empowered memories that will now be stored in your memory bank aka your unconscious mind. Doing so will clear out the old programming and your new reference point will be the remembering of celebrating your accomplishments. So go wild..... celebrate everything. Dance, sing and share to anchor those feelings into your body, mind and soul.

I would love to hear about your accomplishments and will celebrate you. The Changeless, Infinite and Limitless beautiful being you are. Watch how your wealth and prosperity will grow from this new refreshing perspective.

Remind others to celebrate by sharing this article.

Change Your Mindset they said...

Change your mindset they said!

Think Positive Thoughts they said!

Work Hard they said!

Picture

Who are they? You know the gurus and coaches out there preaching and teaching about how if you just change your mindset you will achieve all the success you've ever dreamed of and wanted.

It has taken me years to realize that having a positive mindset is not enough to be successful. Not to mention all the tips, affirmations and coaching only took me so far. What I didn't realize, I was missing several pieces of the make more money and be successful puzzle. What I also discovered, that going from an employee to entrepreneur was about to shine a light on every insecurity and limiting belief that was hidden deep inside me. I have to laugh now looking back.

Don't take this the wrong way, having a supportive and positive mindset is very important on the road to financial success, however I got a little tired of reading about what was blocking my success and wanted a little more direction on how to think powerfully, feel good and believe in myself consistently. In other words how does a person release negative and critical thoughts and beliefs permanently. How do you create a supportive and positive mindset that wasn't always a constant battle?

The bigger question though is why on earth did I keep slipping back into my old patterns? They say when the student is ready the teacher appears.

What I soon discovered was that my positive mindset was not in alignment with my belief system. I was running on old self limiting programming that constantly reminded me that no matter how positive glass half full I thought I was, at a deeper level unbeknownst to me, my programming was telling me I wasn't "good enough" "smart enough" "worthy enough" and on and on it went. I was also harbouring unwarranted and irrational emotions of Anger, Sadness, Fear, Hurt and Guilt. That, what I had experienced over the years from a young age was internalized and I was living it out as an adult. Who knew how powerful my old programming was, I didn't that's for sure. The funny thing is that our unconscious mind organizes, stores and remembers everything good and bad.

For me it only came to light after my Mother died. I was always a shy and quiet child and I carried a sadness within me, right into adulthood, experiencing times of wanting to just crawl into a shell and not come out to being depressed and going on medications. I very easily recognized the behaviour and patterns I had fallen into, but didn't know how to shake this deep feeling of sadness all the time.
It was the perfect storm. Deep rooted unwarranted sadness and all the critical self talk was running the show. I was riding on a roller coaster, some weeks positive and raring to go and some weeks wondering why I even bothered thinking maybe I should just go get a J.O.B.

From an outsiders perspective I appeared confident and successful, out giving talks, socializing with a smile on my face, but inside I was confused, scared and felt I was running out of time to make a big impact on the world.
The fire burning inside me, my purpose, vision and need to guide others into financial success wasn't going away so I decided it was time to reprogram my soulware. Time to dig down deep to the root cause of all the crap that wasn't serving me. I hired a NLP Master Coach told her what my problem was and experienced the biggest shift of my life. So big in fact I myself trained to become and am now a Certified NLP Coach. Talk about gaining clarity on how to guide others to releasing critical self talk.

That was just under 1 year ago, I have never felt better, joyful, purposeful and crystal clear on how I want to show up in the world. I have so much to share having worked 33 years in the Financial Industry not only the typical Financial Planning Strategies we all need to have in place but as a Certified NLP Coach, Time Line Therapy® Practitioner and Hypnotherapist I also have the ability to guide you through the process of releasing old beliefs so you can stand powerfully, confidently and truly earn what you are worth. Imagine what that would look like for you!

So, yes mindset is very important, so are the emotions you experience as well as the thoughts you have. Combined they lead to your behaviours. I would love for you to discover the most powerful version of yourself. Book a Money Magic Clarity Call it is never to late. The Power is in You.

Where to start?

5/15/2017

That has always stopped me from moving forward in writing, coaching and in life in general. So, I guess I will start from here! Where I am now. My true authentic vulnerable shiny self wants to come out. If not now, then when and I am tired of waiting. Aren't you tired of waiting? Waiting for what? The perfect moment? The sun to shine? Ha ha, in Vancouver we wait for the sun all the time. Waiting for the kids to grow up?

Guess what? Time waits for no one. I am going on 53 and there is still so much I want to do with my life and I am declaring to you "I will not wait another minute. I will stand in my power, share my knowledge with others, create wealth and vitality not only for myself but show you how it is possible."

It is possible! I truly believe that. We are not born to live mediocre lives, to hide behind our mothers skirts, something I did as a small child. We all deserve to live great lives, earn as much as we want and do what we want. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

How do you know you are doing that? Well, listen you your self talk, your inner voice/critic. You may not even be aware of the damage it is doing to you. Do you call yourself stupid when you maybe didn't succeed at something or make a mistake. Do you deflect compliments because they make you feel self conscious. Do you hear your Mothers or Fathers voice in your head warning you "Be careful Dear you might hurt yourself" Be careful! Be careful! Wow how damaging is that one. Growing up hearing "Be Careful" Not great programming to receive because our neurology cannot make out what to be careful of. So guess what it is careful of everything. It is what keeps you, me, us safe or so it thinks. So STOP! Review your inner talk. Create awareness and insert "I am doing the best I can based on what I know right now". Give yourself a break and stop beating yourself up. Can you imagine speaking to a child like you speak to yourself?

So Start Right Now! Exactly where you are right now and take stock. What do you tell yourself? What goals and dreams are you letting slip away? Remember time waits for no one. You deserve and are worth all you can dream up and imagine and it is never to late to Just Start. By increasing your worth set point you will attract more into your life. More money and better resources as well as the people who will join you on your journey.
